This Privacy Policy explains how vaani handles information when you use the platform.
0. Who we are
vaani is operated by Vaani Social Ltd., a company incorporated in England & Wales, trading as part of Vats Ventures. In this policy, “vaani”, “we”, “us” refers to Vaani Social Ltd.
1. Information we collect
- Account data: name, username, email address, password (stored hashed), and profile content you choose to add (bio, avatar).
- Content you post: posts, replies, likes, reposts, community memberships and other interactions.
- Technical data: device type, IP address, browser, and basic usage telemetry needed to keep the service running and secure.
2. How we use it
- To operate, secure and improve vaani.
- To send you essential service emails (verification, password reset, security alerts).
- To moderate the platform and enforce the Community Guidelines.
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not share your data with third-party advertisers in the current phase of vaani.
- We do not read or expose your private account information for marketing.
4. Storage and security
Your data is stored on managed cloud infrastructure with industry-standard access controls, encryption in transit, and routine backups.
5. Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal profile and posts are scheduled for purge and are permanently deleted from production systems within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated usage data (with no link to your identity) may be retained for product analytics.
6. Your rights — India (DPDP Act 2023)
If you are based in India, you have rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the “DPDP Act”), including the right to access, correct and erase your personal data, and to nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf. To exercise these rights, email hello@vaani.life. You may also raise grievances with India’s Data Protection Board if your concern is not resolved.
7. Your rights — UK & EU (GDPR)
If you are based in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, you have rights under the UK GDPR / EU GDPR, including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port and object to the processing of your personal data. You may also lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) or your local EU supervisory authority. Our lawful bases for processing are typically the performance of a contract (operating your account) and our legitimate interests (keeping the service safe).
8. Your rights — everywhere else
- You can edit or delete your profile at any time.
- You can request export or deletion of your account by contacting us.
